Day 4- Nagambie to Broadford 71 kms

The word for the day is WIND and head wind at that!

After an early morning wake-up and pack it was a short walk to the local cafe in Nagambie for breakfast. Along the way we saw a big group of local riders assembled for the local ride…. More about that later

After breakfast it was off to Broadford!

As we made our way the wind started to get up and it was a southwesterly! Yuck right in our faces!

Progress was slow with the wind but at least the roads were good and the scenery was pleasant. We travelled thtough horse breeding and training country. Along the way we saw signs to the Mitchelton Winery and made our way to the winery for our morning coffee!

What a lovely place it was to take some shelter from the wind…the coffee was great too!

We met a group of the rider that had travelled from Nagambie and had a chat . They were a group of ladies who ride together each week. They were interested in our travels.

After this it was off again and the travel to l no Seymour was through magnificent thoroughbred racing country with many of the facilities for the big names in horse racing. Sweetnam Stud , Gadolphin etc.

The good thing was that the scenery took our minds away from the challenge of the wind!

We arrived at Seymour for lunch and enjoyed a drink and sandwich in the sun!

I often wonder whether Steve Seymour had a family connection to the naming of the town of Seymour?

After lunch there were a few short showers of rain so we donned our more robust rain jackets! The wind and the rain made it quite cold !

The other challenge was the flat roads of the past few days gave way to more hills!

Fortunately the rain was only very intermittent…. But the wind was something else!

The plan was to make for Broadford and have a warm shower and recharge..

We finally arrived at about 3.30 pm after a challenging ride.

The shower and rest was great!
